A Spot of Cream The cosy cablestitch sweater has long been a wardrobe staple of rugged fashion traditionalists. Now the look has migrated to the tabletop with the new Aranware Collection from Northern Ireland. Named for the famous Aran Isle stitch patterns, the serving pieces offer the same sturdy practicality as their predecessor, while trading on the popularity of classic creamware. And just as neutrals are the foundation of every wardrobe, the dishes offer simple styling on their own, plus lots of opportunity for dressing it up by mixing with colour-ful pieces. $36-$62. From the Boston Globe: IRISH PRIDE: A native of Derry, Northern Ireland, Ann Mullan-Karakatsanis traveled to America in 1990 to attend a program designed for Irish entrepreneurs at Boston College. Adopting the American "can-do" attitude, she then embarked on designing a line of pottery for the American market that would reflect her Irish heritage while creating manufacturing jobs in her homeland. |
