A Spot
of Cream
The
cosy cablestitch sweater has long been a wardrobe staple of rugged
fashion traditionalists. Now the look has migrated to the tabletop
with the new Aranware Collection from Northern Ireland. Named for
the famous Aran Isle stitch patterns, the serving pieces offer the
same sturdy practicality as their predecessor, while trading on
the popularity of classic creamware. And just as neutrals are the
foundation of every wardrobe, the dishes offer simple styling on
their own, plus lots of opportunity for dressing it up by mixing
with colour-ful pieces. $36-$62. Call 1-800-430-2008.

Tea a Magazine
Keeping
it Irish by Bradford Ross
This winter
my editor gave me a pleasant assignment: to interview entrepreneur
Ann Mullan-Karakatsanis, the creator and designer of Aranware®,
pottery inspired by Aran Irish traditional sweaters with patterned
that seen to reflect elements of Celtic art. The pottery's name
is derived from the Gaelic word cara (friend) and the beginning
of her last name.

HFN - Tabletop
For St. Pat's,
the Look of the Irish
New York - Although
not as popular a holiday for tabletop and giftware products as,
lets say, Christmas or Halloween, St. Patrick's Day does offer another
reason for consumers to dress up their homes and celebrate.....
Mullan has continued to import her designs from Ireland and is in
the process of creating a new Irish Christmas pattern.
